Outreach and Community Activities

The students of the Biomedical Sciences Department actively participate in The National Service Scheme (NSS) and The National Cadet Corps (NCC) programs aimed at inculcating a sense of social responsibility in the students. The enthusiastic involvement of our students demonstrates their potential as stakeholders in the development of our society.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

The NSS team at SRIHER functioning through five units & 500 volunteers has implemented various community projects. It has adopted 11 villages in Thiruvallur District. The range of activities include multispecialty medical camps, sports equipment distribution, self-help women survey, hygiene promotion, eco-friendly initiatives, self – defense for girls, yoga, Volunteer Outreach Initiative in Creative English (VOICE) for rural students and many more.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

Army and Navy wing of SRIHER comprising 70 cadets from all the constituent faculties play a major role in events of SRIHER especially during the Independence & Republic Day celebrations. Their active participation in many camps such as Thal Sainik camp, Army Attachment camp, Republic Day camp, Combined Annual Training camp, Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, Rastriya Ekta Diwas, All Women Sailing Expedition, Shooting camp and Ship Attachment camp is appreciable.
