Workshop on “Basics of PCR to Sanger Sequencing”

The Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and Technology, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), is organizing a hands-on workshop on “Basics of PCR to Sanger Sequencing” from 30 June 2026 to 3 July 2026.

The workshop will be conducted at the Department of Biotechnology, Microbial Genomics Lab (Watson Lab), 2nd Floor, Medical College Building, SRIHER, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The programme aims to provide participants with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to molecular biology techniques widely used in biomedical and genomic research.

The workshop will cover a broad range of topics including bacterial isolation and confirmation, drug sensitivity testing (AST), DNA isolation, primer designing and PCR, Sanger sequencing and data analysis, introduction to whole genome sequencing, next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflow, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) gene analysis, sequence typing, phylogenetic analysis, and genome visualization.
