The Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and Technology, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), is organizing a Short-Term Project on “PCR to Next Generation Sequencing” from 15 June 2026 to 15 July 2026 at the Microbial Genomics Laboratory (Watson Lab), Department of Biotechnology, Medical College Building, SRIHER. The programme will be conducted in offline mode from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is designed to provide participants with intensive hands-on training in advanced molecular biology and genomics techniques.
The short-term project aims to equip participants with practical skills and theoretical knowledge in contemporary genomic research methodologies. The programme covers a wide range of topics including bacterial isolation and confirmation, drug sensitivity testing (AST), DNA isolation, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Sanger sequencing and data analysis, introduction to whole genome sequencing, next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflow, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) gene analysis, sequence typing, phylogenetic analysis, and genome visualization.
